It's school vacation, which marks the third week of high school spring sports.

Vacation-week tournaments heat up as action in the Chowda Cup boys lacrosse tournament starts on Tuesday and the Staycation girls lacrosse tournament starts on Wednesday.

Tuesday, April 16

BOYS LACROSSE

Falmouth defeated Cohasset, 12-7, in the first round of the Chowda Cup.

Hingham defeated Concord-Carlisle, 7-4, in the first round of the Coaches Cup.

Hunter Grafton had 5 goals and 4 assists in Abington's 16-2 win over Old Colony.

Freshman Trey Thatcher scored his first varsity goal in Plymouth North's 13-6 loss to Barnstable.

Duxbury defeated Xaverian, 11-10, in the first round of the Players Cup.

Scituate's Willy Robinson scored 9 goals in a 19-8 win over Hanover.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Oliver Ames' Liv O'Rourke scored 2 goals in a 16-9 loss to Mansfield.

Addie Pyy had 4 goals and an assist in Plymouth North's 9-6 win over Silver Lake.

SOFTBALL

Maddie Smith had 11 strikeouts in 5 innings as Weymouth defeated Nantucket.

BASEBALL

Middleboro defeated Archbishop Williams, 4-3, in 9 innings. In the loss, Joe Schwartz went 3-for-3 with a pair of walks and 2 stolen bases.

Dartmouth defeated Bridgewater-Raynham, 5-1.

Drew Hall reached base four times, but Oliver Ames fell to Dighton-Rehoboth, 10-3.

Plymouth North's DC Brown struck out 8 in an 11-1 win over Silver Lake in 5 innings. George Slauson and Cody Quinn (walk, 2 runs) both had 2 hits. RJ Thorp had an RBI single for the Lakers.

Whitman-Hanson defeated New Bedford behind solid pitching from Ryan Baker (3 innings, 7 strikeouts) and Evan Yakavonis (4 innings, 1 earned run). Jason Nye had 2 hits while Cam Beltramini and Johnny Walker each had RBI doubles.

Jack Reyes had 11 strikeouts over 6 innings in Weymouth's 7-5 win over Hingham. Alex Munchback (3-for-4, 2 RBIs), Andrew Daley (3 hits, 2 runs) and JJ Mannion (2 hits, 2 RBIs) paced the offense.

Scott Longo pitched well (5 innings, 2 hits, 6 strikeouts) in Milton's 8-0 win over Foxboro.

Braintree's Sam Garrity was 3-for-4 with a triple, and Hayden Regan and Sean O’Rourke each had 2 hits and a RBI in an 8-4 win over Dennis-Yarmouth. Pitcher Max Deroche allowed 2 hits and 2 earned runs with 6 strikeouts for the Wamps (4-1).

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Quincy defeated Weymouth, 3-1.

Monday, April 15

SOFTBALL

Maggie Schlossberg struck out 15 batters as East Bridgewater defeated Oliver Ames, 10-2. Devon Morris (2-for-3, run) and Katie Berg (2-for-2, triple, RBI, run) accounted for both of the Tigers' runs.

Ciara McMenamin (three hits) walked it off as Archbishop Williams clinched a 6-5 win over Bishop Fenwick in the 10 innings. Joey Whitney also had three hits for the Bishops, and Rosa McLaughlin stole three bases in her first career varsity game.

Talia Faria (3 hits, double, 2 RBIs, 2 runs) starred as Bridgewater-Raynham defeated Greater New Bedford Voke, 5-4. Taylor Reid (run, RBI) and Claire Roy (run) both had 2 hits.

Rivers defeated Thayer Academy, 10-6, but Abby Concannon (double, triple) and Quinn Walsh (2 RBIs) both went 3-for-4.

BASEBALL

Carver's Derek Lopes and Ryder Holmes each went 2-for-3 as the Crusaders picked up a walk-off 6-5 win over Middleboro in eight innings. Nate Dirado struck out five in 7 ⅔ innings, and went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs at the plate. Teagan Zakrzewski and Colin Eakins drove in RBIs, and Bob Alpert earned the win in relief.

In his first varsity start, Abington's Ryan Solimini went six innings and allowed two hits as the Green Wave defeated Monomoy, 9-2. Solomini hit an RBI triple at the plate, AJ Nash had three doubles and 3 RBIs and John Sellon had two hits in the win.

Josh Young tossed five innings to earn the win for Cohasset in a 10-4 final over Blue Hills. Ronan Carnes recorded his first varsity hit, and John Wallingford made his first varsity save, in the win.

Evan O'Brien allowed one run over six innings of work as Pembroke defeated Hull, 7-3, in the Brian F. O'Donnell Memorial Tournament at Hull. For Hull, Nick Tiani was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBIs and Edward Hipp allowed two hits and two earned runs over 3 ⅔ innings.

George Slauson (2-for-3) hit an RBI double to score Michael Hannon from first to tally Plymouth North's lone run in a 4-1 loss to Taunton.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Emily Keefe scored three goals and Lexi White scored two as Bridgewater-Raynham suffered a 14-9 loss to Falmouth. Emily Long, Grace LaRose, Sydney O’Donnell and Lacey Haikola also had goals for the Trojans, and goalie Ainsley Yates made 16 saves.

Tess Van Ogtrop scored 5 goals in Thayer Academy's 12-11 loss to BB&N.

BOYS LACROSSE

Shaun Teehan scored two goals as Oliver Ames lost to Fairhaven, 5-2. Ryan Jaco (one goal, one assist), Lucas Gangi and Owen Bourne also scored for the Tigers, and Ethan St. Jean made 13 saves.

Archbishop Williams defeated Saint John Paul, 15-2.

Teddy Lally scored a hat trick, but Thayer Academy lost to St. Sebastian's 13-9.
