Yes. Feel free to use leftover chicken that you have whether it be rotisserie chicken or even shredded chicken you batch cooked. Just make sure the chicken is not overly seasoned and it will work just fine.

Can You Use Canned Chicken for Poppy Seed Chicken Casserole

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 35 minutes

Poppyseed chicken is a creamy and savory chicken casserole that is freezer-friendly! Easy for those busy work days where you need minimal prep.

Ingredients

  • 3 Chicken Breasts, Chopped & Cooked
  • 2 10.5 oz. Cans, Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 1 16 oz. Container of Sour Cream
  • 1 Tbsp. Poppy Seeds
  • 1 Sleeve of Ritz Crackers
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter
  • 2 Cups Rice

Instructions

  1. Combine the Sour Cream, Chicken Soup, and Chicken in a 9x13 Pan
  2. Place Ritz Crackers in a Bag and Crush with a Rolling Pin
  3. Combine Crackers, Poppy Seeds and Melted Butter
  4. Pour Cracker Topping over the Chicken Mixture
  5. Cover Tightly and Freeze
  6. To Bake: Thaw Completely and Bake at 350 Degrees for 30 Minutes
  7. Serve over Rice
  8. Suggestions for Sides: Rice, Steamed Vegetables

How To Thaw And Bake Poppy Seed Chicken

Once you are ready to cook this casserole pull from the freezer and allow to thaw completely. I generally toss in the fridge the night before I want to make it. Then toss in the oven at 350 degrees and bake for 30 minutes. Serve over a bed of rice.
