Made this today after looking for something to do with the smoked sausage my husband made on the Blackstone. It was fantastic! I halved the recipe for the two of us, used fettucine instead of spaghetti, added half the Velveeta, and I added some half and half. My husband was in heaven. It is on our “do again” list for sure. Thank you for sharing!Reply
Jim Dannaker says
Will it still cook properly if I halve this recipe

Aunt Lou says
I haven’t tried halving this recipe, but think it would work. I would recommend using a 4 quart slow cooker. If you don’t have a 4 quart, you could use the double broiler method with your 6 quart. I would also recommend watching it closely the first time you make it so you can adjust the cooking time as needed with the halved ingredients. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!Aunt Lou

Have you ever tried to add a veggie like corn or broccoli? Trying this recipe tomorrow, thanks!

I have not, but I like the idea. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!

What can I use to replace the processed cheese… We are big on cheese just not the processed types… I tried doing a cup and a half of cheddar heated with a cup of evaporated milk that was pretty darn good but I am not a cook so thought you probably had a better idea that you would recommend .. Thanks

I haven’t tried this recipe with anything other than Velveeta. If the changes you made turned out well, I would stick with that. It sounds like a good substitute.
Pamela says
I finally made it with Andouille sausage. We would give it 10 stars if we could! So easy and DELICIOUS!!! I would recommend putting the spaghetti in towards the end. Other than that it’s the bomb!Reply
Pamela says
I can’t wait to try this recipe. I am going to make a change and use andouille sausage because that’s what we love.Reply
Aunt Lou says
I hope you love it as much as we do!

I agree and I cut back on the amount of sausage. I think it might be better with a pound of bulk Italian sausage or ground beef instead.Aunt Lou says
Sounds like yummy variations of this recipe. If you give them a try, let us know how it goes!
Samantha says
So you cook the noodles first, then put them in the crock pot with everything else?
Reply
Aunt Lou says
Hi Samantha! You cook them al dente. Make sure you do not cook all the way to the texture you like, but al dente. Cooking them al dente brings them to the perfect texture after their time in the crock pot. Hope this helps!

Aunt Lou says
Hi Mary Ellen!A popular name brand of the cheese is Velveeta. I hope this helps!

Hi Aunt Lou,
It tasted great with only using cream of chicken!! Everyone went back for seconds!
Thanks!

This looks yummy! I’m out of cream of mushroom. Do you think double cream of chicken would make it taste less yummy? Lol! Thanks!

Aunt Lou says
Hi V K!I haven’t tried it that way, but think it should work! If you give it a try, let me know how it goes.
